Forest Canyon Adventure
Description
It is past 5:00 a.m. and I am finally headed to bed, but my overnight adventure was definitely worth it! 🌌
Quick thing - no, this is not what it would have looked like to your actual eyes. Our eyes work differently from camera sensors and process visual data instantaneously. This was a long exposure, meaning I stayed still and let my camera sensor detect more light over a longer period of time. 📸
I would, however, still strongly encourage you to get out of the city some time just to experience firsthand what *you* personally can see in the night sky. In this photo, the very bright area just over the mountains is light emitted by the Denver metro area; even though it is over 50 miles away, my altitude of 11,640ft makes it easier to see. I use https://darksitefinder.com/ to find places I can see the Milky Way, and I think you may find it helpful, too. Keep looking up! 🔭
