Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway and Trail

This aerial photo was shot while landing at the Kona International Airport. The inhospitable landscape is a result of lava flows that have yet to be worn down and reclaimed by plants. The trail leads from the Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway in the distance to the beach, just out of frame.
